Oliver!: 9/10

Wednesday 24th July 2024, Press Night, Chichester Festival Theatre, Row U, Seat 75.

The set design and implementation was wonderful. From the spinning turntable to the ever changing backdrop, the sets were dynamic, expansive and rich with detail. The well-known score was performed and accompanied to perfection by one of the largest orchestras on a currently playing show in the UK. Saving the best for last, Fagan (portrayed by Simon Lipkin), was the cherry on the top of this particular cake. Lipkin’s comedic timing and complete control over the emotion in the room, along with a truly excellent performance by the whole cast ensured this performance will live long in the memory.
